For the Love of the World
Below is a poem that a friend shared with me. I will teach my daughters these 14 lessons. I have not learned them all, but I am working on it.
For the Love of the World
by
Charlotte Tall Mountain
For the love of a tree, she went out on a limb.
For the love of the sea, she rocked the boat.
For the love of the earth, she dug deeper.
For the love of the community, she mended fences.
For the love of the stars, she let her light shine.
For the love of spirit, she nurtured her soul.
For the love of a good time, she sowed seeds of happiness.
For the love of Goddess, she drew down the moon.
For the love of nature, she make compost.
For the love of a good meal, she gave thanks.
For the love of family, she reconciled differences.
For the love of creativity, she entertained new possibilities.
For the love of her enemies, she suspended judgement.
For the love of herself, she acknowledged her worth.
And the world was richer for her.

I stumbled over your blog and spent some truly delightful time reading. Lovely poem and what a beautiful idea to select it for such a statement. I also like how you ‘articulate’ yourself in this last paragraph of “Alexandra”. It is totally fascinating to learn about dyslexia; you make it sound not so much like a problem but like a unique opportunity to investigate the mysterious workings of the mind.

Thanks Klaus… Kind words, kind words… please pop in again. I love Charlotte Tall Mt. and her simple elegance. I love how my funny little brain works and even with the mis spellings and multiple back spaces, I wouldn’t change how I think for all the tea in china. I just wish that when I was little there was someone else like me to give me permission to be slightly off.

To be slightly off – I love it. Off of what? Of the mainstream? Off of what is just mindless robot-like mechanics is us? Yes, not for all the tea of China!
How do you like the flying?
Alexandra Jump said
Exactly!
I fly in my dreams, sans a plane and a small plane is the closest thing I can get to that total freedom. I have never been afraid of heights but have always disliked closed up crowded spaces without a window.
